How it works

From a few clicks to a guide people follow.

You do the task once. Thoth takes the screenshots, names the steps and gets the guide ready to export or publish. Try it below: record a few clicks, edit, export and publish, right here.

Free · Windows 10 and 11 · No account · Works offline

Click through the portal on the left, the way you would to show a colleague. Thoth writes each click down.

Guide

Add a user in the admin portal

  1. Steps appear here as you click.

Swipe sideways to see all of the demo.

This is a demo built for this page. It doesn’t record your screen, and nothing you do here leaves your browser.

The whole path

Six stages, and what each one does.

  1. Record

Do the task once, as you normally would.

    You
Press the hotkey and click through the task in any app, in a window, a region or the whole screen.
    Thoth
Takes a screenshot at every click and names the step after the control you clicked: Click “Save”, not Click here.
  2. Edit

Tidy the wording and mark up the screenshots.

    You
Reorder steps, fix a title, add an arrow, a callout or a note where people tend to get stuck.
    Thoth
Keeps the guide on one scrolling page with an outline beside it, and can draft or polish wording with an AI provider you choose.
  3. Protect

    Hide what shouldn’t be shared.

    You
Blur, pixelate or black out anything private, by hand or in one click.
    Thoth
Finds emails, phone and card numbers, keys and password fields while you record (Pro), and burns every redaction into each export.
  4. Export

    One design, ten formats.

    You
Lay out the cover, header and footer once, with a live preview.
    Thoth
Applies that design to PDF, Word, PowerPoint, video, GIF, a web page, an interactive demo, Markdown, JSON and images.
  5. Publish

Put it where your team already looks.

    You
Choose NinjaOne, Confluence, Notion or WordPress, and a place to put the guide.
    Thoth
Sends the guide there. Publish again after an edit and the same page updates, so saved links keep working.
  6. Keep it current

When the software changes, don’t start over.

    You
Click through the guide once more after an update.
    Thoth
Retakes every screenshot and keeps your arrows and blurs in place. Review reminders show which guides are due.

Putting it together

Two ways the stages fit into real work.

An IT team

A new-hire laptop checklist that matches the screen

  1. Record the setup once
  2. Blur the serial numbers
  3. Publish to Confluence

When the setup changes, retake the screenshots and publish again. The checklist keeps its address, so every link in an onboarding email still works.

An MSP

One runbook, a copy for each client

  1. Record the fix once
  2. Add each client’s logo
  3. Publish into their NinjaOne

The same recording becomes a branded document for one client and an update to another’s Knowledge Base, without recording it twice.

These are examples of how the features combine. Some steps, such as automatic blurring and publishing, are in Thoth Pro.

What leaves your computer

Your screenshots stay put until you say so.

On your PC

Where everything starts and, unless you choose otherwise, stays.

  • Recordings, screenshots and your guide library
  • No account needed to use the app
  • Keystrokes are never logged and password fields are never read

Only when you send it

Nothing is uploaded until you press the button.

  • Publishing to NinjaOne, Confluence, Notion or WordPress
  • AI features go to the provider you set up yourself, or a local model
  • Updates check for a new version, if you leave that on

Thoth Cloud, optional

For a help center you don’t want to host yourself.

  • A searchable help center at your-name.thothdocs.com
  • Needs a free Thoth account, made on the website
  • Delete a help center and its files are deleted with it

The details are in the privacy policy.
