How-to
Blur private information by hand
Cover anything in a screenshot with blur, pixelation or a solid block, hide a word everywhere it appears, and know the original stays safe.

Screenshots show more than you mean to: a colleague’s email, a customer name, a token in the address bar. You can hide any of it, on every plan, and it takes a few seconds per screenshot.
Cover an area#
- 1
Open the screenshot
Press E on the step, or choose Edit image….
- 2
Pick the Blur tool
Press B, then drag over what you want hidden. Choose how it looks in the panel: Blur, Pixelate or Solid. Use Solid for anything that must never be recoverable by eye, like a card number.
- 3
Check it
Select a blur to move or resize it, or press Del to remove it. The original screenshot is kept untouched underneath.
Hide words instead of drawing boxes#
- Redact words (W) lets you click recognized words, or drag across them, and hides each one. It follows the text, so the cover fits.
- Hide text in the panel on the right takes a word, such as a customer’s name or an account number. Hide here covers every match in this screenshot, and In all steps covers it in every screenshot of the guide. Tick Match case or Whole word to be exact.
- Copy to other steps… puts the same blur on following screenshots, or on every screenshot of the same size, for a panel that never changes.
Before you share#
A quick privacy pass
- Run Check this guide and fix every “personal info” item.
- Look at each screenshot’s edges: the title bar, browser tabs and the taskbar often show names.
- Search for the customer’s name with Hide text → In all steps.
- Export and open the file once. What you see is what everyone gets.
