Refresh screenshots after the software changes
Click through a guide again and Thoth retakes every screenshot, keeping your arrows, notes and blurs where they belong.

A new release moves a button and half your guides are wrong. Refreshing replays the guide against the real app: Thoth rings the control for each step, you click it, and it takes a new screenshot framed like the old one. Then you review the pictures before any of them replace the old ones.
Retaken todayafter one click-through
Recorded in March
- Ring and blur kept in place
- Review due every quarter
- Version 7 · restore any earlier one
- 1
Open the app and get to the first screen
Open the program the guide is about and get to where the first step starts.
- 2
Start the refresh
In the guide, choose Refresh screenshots in the editor’s header. Thoth shows a card on screen, titled “Refreshing screenshots”, with the first step.
- 3
Click the ringed control
Thoth finds the control the step was recorded on and rings it. Click it to retake that step’s screenshot and move on. For a step where you typed, set up the field like the old screenshot, then press Capture. If it can’t find a control, it says it is looking; make sure that screen is open.
- 4
Skip, go back or stop
Skip leaves a step’s old screenshot. Back goes to the previous step. The X stops the refresh and lets you review what you have so far.
- 5
Review
At the end choose Review in Thoth. Each step shows the old screenshot, the new one, and whether it Looks the same or Changed. Untick any you don’t want to use.
- 6
Apply
Choose Use N new screenshots. Thoth saves a version first, so you can go back in Version history.
What moves and what is redone#
- Arrows, boxes, notes and your own blurs move with the control, by however far it moved.
- Automatic blurs are redone on the new screenshots, which are scanned again for private information.
- Steps whose control wasn’t found are listed by number and control name, so you can check whether the app really changed there.
- A step marked Taken by hand was captured with the Capture button rather than by clicking.
