A PDF tells people what to do. Guide Me shows them, on their own screen. It reads the guide, finds each step’s control in the real app and draws a ring around it. When they click it, it moves on to the next step.
- 1
Open the guide and the app
Open the guide in Thoth, and open the program it covers.
- 2
Choose Guide Me
Choose Guide Me in the editor’s header (“Walk through this guide live, in the real app”). A card appears on screen with the first step.
- 3
Follow the ring
The card shows the step’s title and text. A blue ring marks the control and the card says “Click the highlighted button to continue”. Clicking it moves to the next step on its own.
- 4
Use the buttons when needed
For typed steps, type in the highlighted field and press Next. If the control isn’t on screen yet, the card says it’s looking, so open that screen. Show screenshot shows how the step looked when recorded. Back goes to the previous step.
- 5
Finish
At the end the card says “All done!”. The X exits at any time.
What it needs#
- Steps recorded by clicking, so Thoth knows which control to look for. Steps without one wait for the person to press Next.
- The program to be open in the foreground. Thoth looks there first and never looks in its own windows.
- Remember app and page address (on by default in Settings → Privacy) helps it pick the right window.
- Steps you marked Skip in export are left out.
