How-to
Find and replace
Change a product name, link or wording in one guide, a folder, or every guide, with a preview and an undo.

- Checked against Thoth for Windows on

The product got renamed, the support address changed, or a menu now has a different name. Find and replace changes every place that text appears, and shows you each one first.
- 1
Open it
In a guide, press Ctrl+H. In the library, choose the find and replace button in the header, or tick several guides first to search only those.
- 2
Say what to find
Type the words under Find and what should replace them under Replace with. Leave Replace with empty to remove the words. Tick Match case or Whole words only to be exact.
- 3
Choose where to look
In the library, In lists This guide, your selected guides, the current folder, or All guides.
- 4
Review and replace
Matches are grouped by guide and say where each is. Untick any you don’t want, then choose Replace.
What it searches#
Guide titles, introductions, step titles and descriptions, notes, choices, alt text, and text you drew on screenshots. It doesn’t change words that are part of a screenshot’s pixels. For those, refresh the screenshots.
Safe to try#
- Before changing a guide, Thoth saves a version, so you can restore it.
- Copies of reusable steps are skipped. Change the set itself and its guides follow.
- Replacing in one guide is part of Free. Replacing across many guides at once is part of Pro.
