Reusable steps
Keep the sign-in steps in one place. Change them once and every guide that uses them updates.

Plenty of guides start the same way: open the admin portal, sign in, go to Users. Rather than record and fix those steps in every guide, make them a reusable set once. Guides that use the set show its steps, and when you change the set they follow.
Make steps reusable#
- 1
Select the steps
In a guide that already has them, select the steps (Shift and click for a range).
- 2
Make reusable…
Choose ••• → Make reusable… and name the set, for example
Sign in to the admin portal. Thoth moves the steps into a set and puts them back in the guide as a linked copy. - 3
Or start from nothing
In the library, open Reusable steps in the sidebar and choose New reusable steps to record or write a set directly.
Use a set in another guide#
Use the + between steps (Insert step here) and choose Reusable steps…. Pick a set, and its steps appear with a violet bar above them that says they’re updated everywhere they’re used.
Change a set#
- Choose Edit on the violet bar to open the set in its own editor. Linked steps can’t be changed inside a guide. That’s what keeps every copy the same.
- When your change settles, every guide that uses the set updates in place.
- Unlink turns the steps into ordinary steps of this guide, which you can then edit freely and which no longer follow the set.
- Remove takes the steps out of this guide and leaves the set alone.
